You can only celebrate the good side of traditions and practice good culture.
In some parts of the world, to keep the “culture” is to violate human rights and be violent, e.g. parents can hurt kids, caning is used in schools as punishment, wives have to obey husbands and live like slaves, etc.
I came from a country where they erased my root (Chinese), and forced me to accept their culture (Thai). But growing up, and learned from the West, Thai culture is full of violence and inequality. No “human rights” can be found. And the new generations of the Thai people, along with human rights activists, are promoting human rights, which mean “Thais have to sacrifice their culture”.
